The Fort Wayne Safari, at 1-4, face the worst showing since 2007. This is one year removed from a narrow loss in the Gold Cup. The Safari are still in the hunt for a playoff berth, and there is no talk of breaking up the team. Small personnel changes along with increased competititveness of other teams are to blame. As well, all performers seem to have decreased in productivity from last season: the rushing game, the quarterback rating, defensive pass rush, field goal kicking, and being able to slow down the TEN riverhawks! The only shining star is the sacking power. Everything else seems depressed.
However, the team is looking up. Two games below a playoff berth, there were two losses in overtime, meaning the team was in the game until the last moments. Also, home field advantage might help out.
Hats off to HB Coleman, who is moving up in the rushing yardage, the all-purpose yardage.
