GBB Optomistic...

Post by Green Bay Bombers »

Despite an overall MAJOR disappointing training camp going into week 1 on the road at Peoria this season, the Green Bay Bombers have reason for optimism in overturning two longstanding trends... a slow start and a conference victory. There were zero victories over conference opponents last season. Early season victories have been the bane of this team for ions. Here is why a week one victory is all but in the books:

The roster is rife with rookies:

#1 draft pick LB Terry Pierce forced his way onto the starting lineup in base the 3-4 defense. The Bomber LB corp has always taken a different tack from the massive power player to the durable flexible player. Time will tell weather this appraoch is successful.

Third round pick CB Dennis Weathesby made the team as a substitute for the starting DB corp. This is not to be underestimated, especially as the Bombers have a plethera of talent at the position and as a this group gets employed regularly especially later as the game progersses.

Green Bay starts QB Mike Pawlawski with the hope that he can spark a previously moribond offense. Castoff FB Ben Moa hopes to charge to early down ground gains to set the stage for Jerald Moore breakaway runs.

The offensive line this season begins with the renewed C1 Jabari Hendricks experience. While sure to be a special teams stalwart, can he open holes for he running game?

WRs are subject to review since there is a mix of veterans competing for playing time.

The defensive line gets a boost with Kendrick Office moving to a deserved DE1 slot... can the supporting cast pick up the slack?

Finally, the DBs will be scrutinized carefully. This group may change after week one as there are multiple candidates to start and are looking to get playing time in the future. Veterans are capable, but may be cast aside as the season progresses.

Stay tuned, Bomber fans... week one is full of promise, as is the rest of this season! See y'll on the field Thursday!

nice writeup. Palawski was a Gold Cup player. A fumble by the tough (but overused?) HB Coleman in the red zone stopped a game-winning TD drive. In the ensuing kickoff, MIN pushed it down, all players were covered except the QB King who scrambled many yards for a rushing TD. The Fort Wayne fans made Palawski the goat after that. Perhaps Jimmy can get him dancing right again. Surprised you got him to 93 IN.

Surprised that the Bombers are not starting HB Shannon. Yes, unproven...but sitting behind Coleman for so many years, it is like any RB sitting behind LaDanian Tomlinson!

LB rookie interesting move..but is he an all-game player? Hm.

Good writeup...but with my science background I had to laugh. You wanted to write 'eons' but wrote 'ions'. An 'eon' is a long time..very long. An 'ion' is a charged molecule like sodium (Na+) or Chloride (Cl-). Together ions can make ionic molecules. NaCl.....since we are talking ions so much, maybe your team name is the superchargers!
