NFL Playoffs - no Patriots

Post by Commish »

I was talking to my dad about the Patriots not making the playoffs… and said that I knew it would happen someday, having 8 divisions of 4. There is no geographic way to have 4 divisions of 8, but you could do this.

AFC

DIVISION 1
NY Jets
New England Patriots
Buffalo Bills
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns

DIVISION 2
Baltimore Ravens
Miami Dolphins
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans
Indianapolis Colts

DIVISION 3
Houston Texans
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders
Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs

NFC

DIVISION 1
NY Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins
Carolina Panthers
Atlanta Falcons
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

DIVISION 2
Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
St. Louis Rams

DIVISION 3
Dallas Cowboys
New Orleans Saints
Seattle Seahawks
San Francisco 49ers
Arizona Cardinals

Ironically, the 'Division 3' would still suck, with best team at 8-8, and New England would still be out.

#1 - Tennessee
#2 - Pittsburgh
#3 - San Diego
#4 - Indianapolis
#5 - Miami
#6 - Baltimore

#1 - NY Giants
#2 - Minnesota
#3 - Dallas
#4 - Carolina
#5 - Atlanta
#6 - Philadelphia

I'm happy the pats didn't make the playoffs. Whatever the scenario is for them to never make the playoffs again is, i'd vote for it!

The first glaring issue I see with your proposed restructure is that you can't split up the Cowboys and Redskins. Its the best rivalry in football!

sure, if you are talking about the history of american football, then yeah the bears/pack have been playing each other since the 20s or something which is the longest rivarly in football. And of course its still a good rivalry. But since the NFL merger, the best/biggest/most popular rivalry is the cowboys/skins.

Green Bay/Chicago RULES!!! has and always will... ya gotta be from Chicago or Green Bay areas to understand it, but it ABSOLUTELY can make or break a season for either team TWICE!
