US Protests against Keystone but not Wisconsin

Post by Mike »

Canada has oil. US uses oil. Oilsands are energy-intensive, aren't profitable under $50/barrel. US could use access to oil from a next-door country that is relatively peaceful. It also provides jobs on both sides of the border.

Yet, there are protests. Over carbon. However, the facts are:
Canada's Oil Sands 2010: 48 million tons of Carbon
Wisconsin's coal-based electricity output: 43 million tons of Carbon.

Why aren't people protesting Wisconsin too? What about Texas-based oil concerns?
